Wisconsin Broker Pre-license Education

The WRA offers all the instruction and resources you need to become a real estate broker in Wisconsin! To receive your broker's license, the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services requires that you fulfill the sales license requirements, complete broker educational training and pass the state exam.

Practice experience requirement

Applicants for a Wisconsin broker's license must have practiced as a licensed salesperson under the direct supervision of a licensed broker for at least two years within the last four years preceding application.

Experience worth at least 40 points must be documented on the application form and verified by the supervising broker. 40 points are required in any combination listed below. Referrals do not count toward the experience requirements.

  • Completed or closed residential transaction = 5 points
  • Completed or closed commercial transaction = 10 points
  • Each property management contract is worth = .5 per month
  • Completed or closed time share transaction  = 1 point

Continuing education
All real estate brokers are required to satisfy the CE requirement during the biennium in which they are licensed since they are no longer exempt from CE at their first renewal or any renewal per the changes that became effective on October 1, 2015. There are no CE exemptions for brokers.
