Wisconsin Appraiser Pre-license Education

To obtain a Wisconsin appraiser license, the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) requires 150 hours of approved pre-license education, including 15 hours of USPAP, passing the state exam, and accumulating 1,000 hours of experience. 

Important appraiser licensing information

Appraiser licensing requirements: As of May 1, 2018, new education requirements are in effect. View each specific license requirement on the DSPS website.

  • Licensed residential: No degree required. 
  • Certified residential and certified general: Credentials applicants must have a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
