GRI Education Requirements

Requirements

To earn the GRI designation, REALTORS® must complete both On Demand and live coursework for a total of 60 hours. You have five years to complete the required coursework. Please note if you have already completed some of the GRI education, the change from credits to hours will not affect your progress. 

1) On Demand core courses 
On Demand education provides instructional videos and supplemental reading materials in one hour topics that you can access anytime at your own pace and schedule. 

  • Course credit: The On Demand coursework counts as 30 hours toward the GRI designation. 
  • Time frame: Students have six months from the date of purchase to complete the On Demand coursework. 
  • Course fee: $15 per course; one hour topics.
  • Note: Completing the On Demand portion is not required prior to taking the live portion.

2) WRA live/virtual elective courses
A combination of WRA live/virtual courses are required to fulfill 30 hours toward the elective course requirements. Only WRA live or virtual classroom courses qualify for GRI credits. 

  • Course credit: The live/virtual zoom coursework counts as 30 hours toward the GRI designation and must be taken through the WRA. 
  • Course fee: $125 – $250 per course.
  • Note: Completing the On Demand portion is not required prior to taking the live portion.

Qualifying elective courses (must total 30 hours) 1-day course = 6 hours, 2-day course = 12 hours  

  • ABR designation core course (12 hours)
  • ABR electives: Real Estate Investing (6 hours), Marketing Strategy (6 hours)
  • AHWD: At Home With Diversity (6 hours)
  • CRB: Performance Leadership — Coach, Manage and Mentor (6 hours)
  • CRS: Converting Leads into Closings (6 hours)
  • SRES designation core course (12 hours)
  • GREEN: Green designation — two-day course (12 hours)
  • MRP: Military Relocation Professional (6 hours) 
  • RENE: Real Estate Negotiation Expert (12 hours) as of 2022
  • PSA: Mastering the CMA (6 hours)
  • RSPS: Resort & Second Home Property Specialist (6 hours)

The list above is a partial list of qualifying courses and must be taken in person live or virtually with the WRA to qualify for GRI credit. To confirm additional course credits, contact the WRA professional development department at 800-279-1972.

3) Membership must be in good standing with the National Association of REALTORS®.
