We're REALTORS®, and we're on the go! Because of this, finding an electrical outlet and allowing your smartphone to charge isn't always easy. And if you're like me, you probably can't find your phone car charger, even though you know you have one.

So start using these battery-saving tips for your phone.

Turn down that brightness: Bright screens are great to look at, but they're not great for your battery life. In the setting configurations within your smartphone, adjust the brightness of your screen so it will be at the middle level of brightness. This is an easy way to extend your battery life without straining your eyes, since the mid level is still easy on your eyes. And, stop being so cute! Similar to the bright screen draining your battery, you'll also see an extension in your phone's life if you avoid using animated wallpapers, even though they're fun to use.

Turn off unused apps: Did you know that many of your apps can be open and running, even though you're not currently using them? When these apps remain active, they have a big impact on draining your battery. This can be a common problem with iPhone users, as pressing your home button to return to your main screen can seem like an easy to way to stop using an app — but it's not. To actually make apps stop running on your iPhone, double-click the home button. The apps, then, that are displayed in the bottom bar across your screen are your apps currently in use and draining your battery. See?! ... you haven't used Twitter for the past three hours, but it's still there! Hold down one of the app icons currently in use to make the red buttons appear; you are then able to close out of any of the apps you're not using. Try performing this quick task a few times a day, and you'll sure see a difference in your battery life.

Lock it! Who knows how many times throughout the day that your phone may be continuously running? When you smartphone is in your purse or pocket, you may accidentally turn your backlight on without knowing it — even worse, you may accidentally make an outgoing phone call. You're able to easily stay in control of this problem by locking your phone. With a locked phone, your battery life will be abundant since accidentally pressing the screen on a locked phone does not turn the light on and/or make outgoing calls!

So while you're out and about and don't always find the time or place to charge your phone, make a habit of these tips, and you'll see a difference in your smartphone's battery!
